Travel Awards
The CSBMCB, Merck Frosst Canada and other sponsors of the conference offer travel awards of up to $750 each for trainees presenting at the meeting, both graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. These awards are to assist in defraying expenses for travel to the meeting and conference registration/accommodation.
Trainees must present an abstract as first author to be eligible for a travel award.
For a trainee to be eligible to receive a travel award, their supervisor must be a member of the CSBMCB. Please ask your supervisor if he/she is a CSBMCB member – if so, then you should indicate this at the appropriate point in the abstract submission web page. If your supervisor is not a member and would like to join the CSBMCB, they can do so via the main web page at: http://www.csbmcb.ca/
Trainees will automatically be considered for a travel award if they are the presenting author of an abstract and their supervisor is a CSBMCB member – no application is necessary.
In general, trainees must be traveling from another province to the conference to be eligible for $750 travel awards. Awards of lower monetary value may be given to trainees traveling to the conference from within the same province, depending on the availability of funds.
- Note that if a trainee’s travel and conference expenses have been paid for by their supervisor, they are expected to return the full amount of any travel award to their supervisor
Travel awards will be presented at the 50th Anniversary Banquet and Awards Presentations on Sunday July 8th, 2007 at the McGill Faculty Club located at 3450 McTavish Street.
Details of previous award winners can be found in the CSBMCB Bulletin edition for the year of the conference.
